As those who've attended our today's class have witnessed, gargoyle door knocker we have covered fiv

As those who've attended our today's class have witnessed, gargoyle door knocker we have covered five popular songs (from the 1960s onward) that contain quite distinct psychological themes. Two were on depression ('Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay' and 'Why does It Always Rain on Me'), one on the way we remember the past ('The Way We Were'), one on human relations ('Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood'), and the last one was on social prejudice ('People are People').
Pokusala sam da se prikljucim diskusiji kao sto sam i obecala, ali nijesam ostala na kraju predavanja jer smatram gargoyle door knocker da nijesam bila dovoljno aktivna da bih zasluzila pola boda ili bod. Najvise mi se svidjela pjesma 'Why does it always rain on me' i cim sam stigla kuci ponovo sam je slusala. Mislim da pjesma 'When you're gone'- Avril Lavigne odgovara bas ovoj temi, jer je jedna od onih "when we remember the past". Ja bas volim ovu pjesmu i cesto je slusam. I mislim da je ova ideja sa audio materijalom savrsena! Reply Delete gargoyle door knocker
I really liked the idea of incorporating songs into the lecture and I hope we'll be having more similar classes. I love music and I am in constant gargoyle door knocker search of songs with a deeper meaning, songs in whose lyrics I can recognize pieces of myself. The only song I knew beforehand was "Please don't let me be misunderstood", which I heard in both The Animals' and Nina Simone versions. I like the meaning of the song since I can really relate to it. I am the type of person who needs time to process things sometimes, so I distance gargoyle door knocker myself from people. I realized that not many people understand my need for space and feel quite hurt or offended when I pull away. I'd also like to reccommend the song "Cold" by Crossfade which I think has a similar meaning, with lyrics such as: "...I see That I never really got it right I never stopped to think of you I'm always wrapped up in Things I cannot win..." and "What I really meant to say Is I'm gargoyle door knocker sorry for the way I am I never meant to be so cold." I think that it deals with the same problem of miscommunication and misunderstandings between people. Sometimes we just have to understand that everyone has their own problems and that it's impossible for people to be happy and open to conversation all the time. Another song I liked was "Why does it always rain on me". I believe many people can identify themselves with the protagonist of the lyrics, because we all feel down or, dare I say, depressed at times. It's just a part of life, I guess, to sometimes feel like things just aren't right and everything's against us and we're just left wondering when/if it will ever get better. A song with a similar, thought not quite the same meaning, is "Welcome to my life" by Simple Plan. "No you don't know what it's like, When nothing feels all right You don't know what it's like, To be like me..." "To be hurt, To feel lost, To be left out in the dark To be kicked when you're down To feel like you've been pushed around To be on the edge of breaking down And no one's there to save you No you don't know what it's like, Welcome to my life." They're gargoyle door knocker similar, but I think "Welcome to my life" expresses the thought gargoyle door knocker of no one understaning us, no one going through the same thing more clearly. "Are you sick of everyone around? With their big fake smiles and stupid lies..." People try to help but they don't quite know what's the right thing to do and so their well-meaning "Just look at the brighter side," and "Get over it," don't have the desired effect. It just makes depressed people feel more alone, more isolated and, in turn, more depressed. gargoyle door knocker Well, that was quite a long comment. If I could get myself to say some of this in class... :) ~Kascelan Milka Reply Delete
Could we add some other themes found in songs? For example, I really like Michael Jackson’s song “Man in the Mirror”. It’s such an inspirational one about self-reflection and awareness of the world around us. “I see the kids in the street with not enough to eat Who am I to be blind, gargoyle door knocker pretending not to see… It's time that I realize that there are some with no home, not a nickel to loan Could it be really me pretending that they're not alone?” He realises that there is injustice in the world, that there are people who suffer and have nothing, but what does it really take for one man to try and change that? “I'm starting with the man in the mirror I'm asking him to change his ways” So if we really want to make a change in the world, gargoyle door knocker it’s clearly not enough to simply preach about it. First you have to understand who you really are, see yourself clearly, stripped bare of all pretenses and accept that you have faults, because: “If you want to make the world a bette
