“High technology wiring a doorbell has done us one great service: It has retaught us the delight of performing simple and primordial tasks - chopping wood, building a fire, drawing water from a spring” ~Edward Abbey (American environmental Writer)
Look who's chopping wood again! We love to find wood as we cruise along. I help carry larger limbs back to the boat. Now Les feels well enough and strong enough to do a bit more on his own. Happy as a puppy with two tails!
We are blessed with such mild weather so far this winter and at last--at last we are moving again, albeit in a relatively confined area of the canal system due to waiting wiring a doorbell for word about Les' further surgeries. wiring a doorbell That's okay with me. His energy levels are on the rise and every day my husband is capable of doing something he couldn't contemplate three weeks previously. Les is still on the skinny side and his clothes hang off of him, but he is happy and healthier once more. Les chopping wood we scored near Horton lock
We received notice that Les' prostate surgery has now been scheduled for March 3rd at Watford General Hospital. He will back on level five which is where he was previously, so hopefully we won't have to break in a new staff regarding who we are, and our expectations wiring a doorbell for the level of care an NHS hospital and staff should be capable of providing to its patients. We will see...in the meantime wiring a doorbell we will slowly make our way back towards Marsworth over the next couple of weeks, taking time to travel the Aylesbury arm which neither of us has done before.
This brings Jo and Keith Lodge on NB Hadar to mind. They were on the Aylesbury 'round about March of last year and spotted the beginning of the rupture which closed down the arm for repairs most of last year. Hadar just managed to escape the arm before the closure. wiring a doorbell Now Keith is in hospital fighting for his life and Jo is visiting him every day. She is posting updates on Keith's situation on Hadar's wiring a doorbell blog (follow wiring a doorbell the link above) and keeps us abreast of her feelings about all of this on her blog Where I Belong . Sound familiar?
They are experiencing some of the same issues we faced in October--frustration wiring a doorbell and a feeling of helplessness while one's life is held in the hands of others who too often treat it all as just one more shift at work. Our thoughts are with them both. We know exactly how it feels and I tell you now that while we are moving on with our lives as much as possible wiring a doorbell I am not looking wiring a doorbell forward to dealing with the bureaucracy and failures of the NHS through two more surgeries and recovery.
We came back into Leighton Buzzard and spent one night moored up in town to access the library reference historical books and maps, stopping at a chip shop for a paper cone of chips with vinegar to munch as we walked through the High street. One night was enough sandwiched between two boats who totally disregarded regulation regarding running the boat engine after 8 pm. Given that we left Old Lindslade because our usual quiet country mooring spot quickly filled up with a raft of floating humanity all around us with some questionable looking characters wiring a doorbell wandering up and down the towpath, we were ready to find a spot with more quiet.
How questionable you ask? Well we were traveling up a lock back into town and two men were moving a small, derelict looking narrow boat into the lock by hand. Les was with NB Val while I walked up to help with the lock. The blokes looked up from their boat hauling, red faced and puffed out.
"Have you got a key we can borrow? We don't have one," said the fellow who appeared to be in charge of this operation. I replied, "A key? You mean a windlass? You don't have a windlass? Why is that?"
"We just bought this boat last night and they took the windlasses with them. We are taking the boat to the marina up ahead for work." He didn't meet my eyes. What marina, I am thinking...there is no marina between this lock and a long, long way...I quickly decided to keep hold of my windlass.
"I'll set the lock for you," and I got on with it. As the men towed the boat out by hand after the lock emptied and I opened a gate for them, there was no "thank you" or "cheers mate." They pulled the boat to the bollards, got on, started up the outboard motor and took off. It made me wonder if there was a demolition or recovery crew waiting ahead.
We cruised out of Leighton Buzzard the next morning in doubtful weather.  Soon the sky began to spit on us so

Java is available on many platforms and its binaries work everywhere with the exception of Android,

As programmers we have a bewildering amount of platforms and languages to choose from. Making such a choice is not always easy, yet it’s quite an important one. Many parts of your application can be refactored later, but language is not something you can (and should) change overnight.
At first it matters jessie and the toyboys to decide on what platform your app is going to run. For an iOS app it’s basicaly Objective-C, with C++ and pure C being options. For Android it’s Java, although with some Google flavors added.
For desktop apps there’s more choice. OS X is Objective-C again, Windows is mostly C#, while Linux favors C. On all those platforms, C++ is an option as well (combined with eg Qt) and surprisingly C# is an option too (via Mono). Java actually runs on the desktop too.
Serverside there’s quite some choice as well. Java is exceptionally strong here and C# is no baby either. C, Objective-C and C++ however are barely options jessie and the toyboys here. There are some other choices here though, like Ruby and PHP.
This becomes clear when looking at the Tiobe language index, jobs available on indeed.com or questions on stackoverflow. Java is often number one or very high ranked (on SO C# has more questions, but Java follows not far behind). This means there simply are a lot of resources available to the Java programmer. There are many books available, many conferences to go to, many articles to read and many jobs available. RoR may be a nice and influential framework, but Ruby simly doesn’t enjoy the popularity that Java does. Tiobe puts it in the 1% range, while Java sits in the 18% range.
The Debian language shootout consistently puts Java in the top tier of most performant jessie and the toyboys languages. jessie and the toyboys C and C++ do outperform it, but not by a very large margin. Dynamic languages like Ruby, PHP and Python perform much, much worse. On some benchmarks this is even 2 orders of magnitude worse. For web applications it’s often the case that 90% of the time is spend in the database, so Java web applications are certainly not two orders of magnitude faster in general but it does allow web frameworks to do quite some extra work without any significant impact on performance.
Java jessie and the toyboys has a simple syntax that’s relatively easy to learn. It’s in the C family, so Java knowledge easily transfers to a multitude jessie and the toyboys of other languages. I actually liked C# a bit better here, but Java and C# are still relatively close and Java gets some syntax enhancements real soon (JDK 7, I love try-with-resources) and some more are on the way (JDK 8). The only thing I really disliked about the Java syntax is checked exceptions. It’s a personal thing maybe, but to me both the Ruby and Python syntax just look too weird. jessie and the toyboys I tried them both but me and they just didn’t click.
Java is available on many platforms and its binaries work everywhere with the exception of Android, which compiles binaries jessie and the toyboys to another VM format (Dalvik). C# was mainly at a disadvantage here, as it’s very strongly tied to the MS platform. The language is available on Linux, but its ‘native’ jessie and the toyboys library .NET certainly is not (at least not at a level suitable for production). C is actually available on much more platforms than Java, but binaries are completely not portable and even source code often contains many system specific things.
The standard library of Java is incredibly rich. It contains many things for which most other languages need to resort jessie and the toyboys to third party libraries. The C and C++ std libraries are both much smaller, and few non-trivial programs will be build using only this. I found here PHP to be at specific disadvantage, as its std library stroke me as being very sloppy and inconsistent. Objective-C and C# don’t jessie and the toyboys really have std libraries, but have defacto ones (Cocoa resp. .NET). jessie and the toyboys
In its latest incarnation, Java EE 6, the power and simplicity this offers is amazing. It’s a full stack framework, meaning it covers most everything from the GUI to DB persistence and everything jessie and the toyboys in between. The GUI is handled by a very ellegant component based web framework called JSF, which provides support for scopes and validation. Validation is handled via constraints that are placed on entity objects once and can be enforced by all layers of the application. Via special jessie and the toyboys beans called EJB beans the framework handles transactions nearly completely transparently.

I work with big development team in China. We made team for new product (when you see big announcement in news soon, maybe us). It became very soon clear to us, JSF 2.0 (and Java EE 6) is absolute winner.
Yes, we made many discussion with programmers. We did market research. Look on stackoverflow, what Java web framework has most questions and what is quality of answers. For JSF, this much more than others. Also indeed.com, jessie and the toyboys we enter keywords like java wicket, java jsf, java gwt

I last left these pages in October, writing about Fire.  This afternoon we saw one, blazing across the seagrasses urmet interphone toward our view, lapping its orange flames against our boardwalk, urmet interphone encroaching with gusts of wind and black smoke.  We moved our car. We called the fire department.  We waited.  We watched. urmet interphone  We smelled the scorched scent and we smiled in wide gratitude at the brown suited men who came with fat red hoses and their shiny red truck to rest the blaze.
Water squelched it all and left damp spots around still greening roots at the base of what had been a dry garden.  We are here at the beach reveling in the Supermoon’s size and orange glow upon rising.  Allen rises early enough to see it set and the sun emerge at the horizon urmet interphone point where the water and sky meet.  I am resting.
Water is the element of winter time, and it mothers and begets wood, the green sprouts of promise.  We are in that swing season between water and wood.  It is a good time for rest.  Rest to absorb the goodness of darkness, the

I am right where I am supposed to be.  This semester is more detail than narrative in my classroom.  This semester I’m invited to memorize 150 chinese herbs and 356 points on the body.  I am to learn where they are, how to find them, and what they do.  I am making up stories and narratives, but in truth, I know it must slowly seep into my blood, into my knowing.
In the meantime, we are in the wood phase of renovating a home in Asheville.  We are all about vision as we work on plans for a deck porch and make changes to access that deck from the house, and to upfit a basement for a treatment room so I can get my massage therapy business a bit off the ground.
We are playing, too.  This is a photo from Thanksgiving taken on Brierpatch mountain in Virginia.  That is a place of respite where Louie and Karma, our rescue dogs know their jobs (keep the cows away) and can run for days and days.
I am watching these working urmet interphone dogs and considering their need for jobs, for purpose, for clear direction.  The Daoist would suggest we are all one, and one is all of us.  We are not so very different.  Louie is our sentinel, standing watch over our feet at night, over our porches by day.
Most recently she cornered a skunk and got up close and personal with it.  Six baths and 4 weeks later she still carries Eau de Skunque about with her. She is funny and loving and none too bright.
They are teaching me about waiting for purpose and doing what of our work we can.  Where we are living in the meantime — our water time — while I study to prepare and we plan and renovate — there is little these dogs can do of their work.  There are no cows to deter, no sheep to herd.  There are not even small children to gather about or ducks to point.  They urmet interphone stand at attention urmet interphone near our front door window and wait for something to alert us about.  They travel with us and do what of their jobs they can wherever we go.  They urmet interphone roll with us and with ‘it’.
I am thinking about this because I am seeing the power of Chinese medicine as it is taught in my program.  We are taught the relationship between forgiveness and disease.  We are taught that what we carry in our bodies is what we hold in our souls. There is no distinction. urmet interphone The things we can no shake loose in our minds are held also in the very cells of our bodies.  Our urmet interphone emotions are carried in our blood.  But there are narratives we keep that live deeper than our blood.  Some rest in our joints. Others go to our bones.  Our brains can

Water, Wood, Fire - Elements Of Garden Decor | www.coolgarden.me
Decorating a garden is largely a matter of personal taste. There are several elements that tend to be recognized to create a given mood or enhance the look of the area. Water is often used. Japanese gardens have traditionally used water to draw the eye to various focal points in the garden. These ancient designs derive influence from Taoist or Shinto values. Japanese gardens bell push tend to fit in with their surroundings. It is common for a Japanese garden to mimic the landscape of rural Japan, with features resembling bell push mountains, forests, rivers and prairies.
A stream with real water requires significant infrastructure, including pumps and filters. Sometimes a simulated river will be created bell push out of river rock, complete with bridges and other features exclusive to a riparian environment. These simulated rivers bell push are much easier to maintain, and require only an occasional pass with a leaf blower to look put together.
Plants are another feature that yards and gardens have. Plants, or the lack thereof, tend to determine the feel for a space, even more than water or fire. This is probably because plants can be very large, and can alter the amount of light in a space, and to some degree, alter the temperature. Large, spreading trees can create a canopy in summer that reduces the temperature by up to 20 or 30 degrees Fahrenheit. If these trees are deciduous, the winter sun will be able to reach the ground under them, warming the space.
Smaller plants bell push set the tone for the area as well. Some gardens and yards are immaculately trimmed, with bushes and hedges sculpted along precise lines. This style of bush trimming requires a high amount of maintenance, and pairs well with short, tiff grass. The effect will be similar to that of a small golf course. Perhaps around the edges of a property, or in a larger yard, a more rough look is appropriate, as it will require much less time and energy to maintain. Citrus trees are often a great choice, as they look great with little maintenance, and have the added benefit of providing fruit around Christmas time and late winter. bell push
A final feature that tends to increase the allure of a garden space is fire . A controlled fire can be safe and intriguing, and there are a myriad of ways to incorporate fire into a yard or garden. A simple way is with small, gas torches. Tiki torches are small bottles of gas that are mounted on bamboo poles, which are in turn inserted into the ground. While the flames only reach a few inches above the end of the torch, the bottles themselves are located about six feet off the ground, which spreads the light over a wider area. Usually several Tiki torches will be used, and will encircle a swimming pool or line a walk. Wherever they are used, they provide a tropical, adventurous bell push feel to a space. bell push
Another way to bring fire safely into an outdoor space is with a fire pit. Fire pits and decorative barbeques can take a variety of shapes. The simplest are mobile units that have three legs, a bowl for holding the wood, a mesh wall, and a solid metal lid. The mesh allows air in to feed the flames, but prevents sparks from spreading.
More permanent solutions are permanent stainless steel or masonry structures. These might be built into the ground or a fire pit table. These fire pits might be wood burning, but more commonly bell push are propane supplied. This means that they are safer and easier to control than wood or charcoal briquettes. The propane can also be easily diverted into a functional barbeque or oven for preparing food, something that is much more difficult with a wood-burning pit.

He s long gone; now you stand looking down at the shoreline, undisputed queen of a tiny, waveless backwater – it s small, but it s all yours – you tilt a white-ringed eye just to be sure — and satisfied, you spread your wings, show off your hidden patch of jewel – sapphire and emerald gleam briefly between brown velvet feathers. North Coast Land Conservancy is pleased to announce the recent friedland door bell completion of a new conservation easement on 160 acres of second-growth forest, year-round creeks and dynamic forest ecosystem high above the Little Nestucca River near Neskowin.
Waterwood , as the land is known to its owners Stephen and Lizzy Murdoch, was purchased friedland door bell in the late 1970s and has been home to multiple generations of the Murdoch family ever since. They built a unique, off-the-grid house on the property, and have been committed to caring for their beautiful forested home during their thirty-plus years as stewards of the land.
The thought of the property not remaining as it is: we couldn t bear that, Stephen said. They began looking into options available to them to ensure that Waterwood could continue to grow and evolve both as a home for their family and the dynamic forest friedland door bell ecosystem they love. North Coast Land Conservancy was able to work with the Murdock family to craft a conservation easement agreement that gave Stephen and Lizzy the assurance that even after they are gone, the forested beauty of Waterwood will live on for generations to come.
Located friedland door bell in the Nestucca River valley, and adjoining the almost 700 acres of Siuslaw National Forest, Waterwood is primarily a second-growth forest dominated by Sitka spruce trees, with healthy populations of western hemlock and red alder. Scattered groupings of majestic, old-growth Sitka spruce trees are found here as well. Three major perennial streams run through friedland door bell the property, one of which hosts a run of winter steelhead. Wildlife is abundant at Waterwood, and the forest has clearly benefitted from the Murdoch’s thoughtful land management practices. friedland door bell
“This has honestly been one of our favorite projects in recent years,” says NCLC Executive Director Katie Voelke. “The Murdoch family has been wonderful to work with, and are clear proof to me that even during our short stay on this earth, we can each truly make a difference to the land.”
“We all feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction knowing that the forest will be protected long after we are no longer here to watch over it,” Stephen Murdock wrote to NCLC upon completion of the easement. “I knew I would be pleased when the easement was completed, friedland door bell but did not think I would actually have a sense of relief.”
