“I’ve been here since I was born. My house is a mochi shop. When I wake up, I smell the sweet scent of red bean paste filling the house. Grandpa and dad make mochi every day except for the Bon Festival and New Year’s. I played in the district since I was little. I would go to Just Meat and Sashimi’s with toy money. Everyone would play along with by pretend shopping and say, ‘Come doorbell sound effect again!’ When I went to school, everyone wished me a good morning and when I came home, everyone welcomed me home. There was one time I got into a fight with Dad and ran away to Bunny Baths. Back in elementary school, I wanted doorbell sound effect a magic wand. I saved up my allowance to buy one, but thinking back, I was 500 yen short. But Midori-chan’s grandpa gave me a big discount.
When Anko was born, Gohei-san came to see her every day. Dad got mad at him as said, ‘She ain’t your daughter!’ when Dad got mad at me and Mochizou for talking from our windows late at night, Michiko-san made us the paper cup phone so we could talk without him finding out. Oh, right! There was a fire at Just Meat once! We’d always get extra soy pulp at Shimizuya, and Kaoru-san always saved the prettiest flowers for us. The folks at Sashimi’s taught me how to cook. And Miyako Udon always uses our mochi for their chikaraudon.
This shopping district is as lively as a festival every day. That’s why I’ve never once felt lonely. I’m glad I’m here. I’m glad I was born and raised here. That’s why I…”
Tamako was not aware that she was standing doorbell sound effect in front of the prince getting her medal back until Choi said his name. Both she and Dera ran up to the prince in excitement. Dera flew himself at the prince. The prince said ‘thank you’ for how kindly Dera was speaking to him, but he didn’t recognize Dera until he sucked in his gut. The prince made a joke about her round Dera got. The prince was taken quickly to Tamako’s house where he was introduced to her family. His name is Mechya Mochiyucky (in other words mochi is super yucky); you can just see Tamako’s doorbell sound effect family violently react to his name. Tamako gave him some of the mochi on sale, he tried it and chocked. He calmed down after drinking doorbell sound effect some tea. The mochi was delicious; he would like for the people on his island to try some.
Tamako and Anko left for school and as usual Mochizou went to school with them. Tamako left before he did because she thought he already went to school, but Mochizou will never go to school without Tamako unless circumstances force him to. Naturally they talk about the prince and wonder what Tamako thinks about him, but they don’t ask Tamako directly how she feels. At school, Tamako’s friends are talking about the prince. Midori is devastated. It’s all become so real; she used to laugh about Tamako being the prince’s bride and now he is here to whisk her away. Tamako is not quite herself at school. She is absentminded and this side of her really shows during practice when she couldn’t twirl her baton properly at all. She tried laughing off her anxieties, but she doesn’t convince anyone that she is okay. After school Tamako doorbell sound effect and her friends walk back to Tamako’s house. They pass through the Bunny Shopping District and Tamako notices that something is wrong.
The Bunny Shopping District is eerily quiet and nobody is around. All the other shops are closed. Tamako leaves her friends behind doorbell sound effect and runs through the district looking for signs of life. She ignores Mochizou and runs inside her home. Her grandpa greets and welcomes her back, as does Anko who came to the front to see who burst through the door. Tamako was still breathing heavily as she checked in back and saw that her dad was there. Relief swept over her as she went back outside where her friends were waiting for her along with Mochizou. They ask Tamako what that was about and Tamako says that she was just scared. The only time that the district was this empty and everyone closed their shops was when her mom died. She feared that another member of her family had died.
Tamako was surrounded by the love and concern of her friends as they each patted her on the head. Dera showed up out of nowhere. He was with the prince, Choi, and the other shop keepers down at B
